“THE WAVES OF LIFE”

Image
Recently, I went on a trip to Mumbai for four days. One night, I visited Juhu Beach, sat down, and observed the waves, as it is something that I find quite calming. While watching the waves, a few thoughts struck me: Waves keep flowing—sometimes they come far, sometimes they don't, but they never stop. To me, this mirrors life: there are down days, and there are good days, but life goes on regardless. Another thing that struck me was that each wave has its own sound, if you have the ear for it. Similarly, every person has their own unique identity, and we should never view everyone through the same lens. Every person has their own context. Waves can also act like people or places. Just as we seek out certain places or people to calm ourselves, waves have a way of decluttering our minds, no matter how much is going on in our heads. This idea is clearly captured by John Tyndall when he says: "Life is a wave, which in no two consecutive moments of its existence is composed of t...

Bharat Ratna Announcement : '"A political Symphony beyond optics"

The recent announcement of Bharat Ratna to three additional stalwarts, along with the two previously honored, has dominated news channels. While the unanimous praise for these awards is evident, it's crucial to recognize that their significance transcends mere optics, carrying profound socio-political implications. The decision to confer the highest civilian honor upon LK Advani underscores how the BJP values its stalwarts, dispelling rumors of Advani not receiving due respect within the party. This move demonstrates Prime Minister Modi's unwavering reverence for his mentor. Similarly, the selection of Karpoori Thakur punctuates the political discourse surrounding the opposition's caste census demand plus honouring his contribution towards upliftment of socially backward classes. Thakur's inclusion, alongside Advani, highlights BJP's commitment to leveraging its core strengths in voter mobilization, encompassing both Mandal and Kamandal ideologies. While earlier ann...

"NON PERFORMING PARLIAMENTARIANS"

The financial landscape, often marred by the ominous presence of Non-Performing Assets (NPAs), has been a longstanding concern, particularly in India. The term found its inception through the Narsimhan Committee, signaling the gravity of the issue. In response, the government has diligently embarked on a journey to mitigate this economic menace. Steps such as fortifying legislations like the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code have been instrumental in yielding incremental successes. The banking sector, too, has undergone a transformation, adopting a more rigorous approach to lending, thereby enhancing its financial prudence.  However, as we grapple with the economic implications of NPAs, a parallel predicament unfolds within the legislative realm – the conundrum of Non-Performing Parliamentarians (NPMs). Members of Parliament (MPs), entrusted with representing the voice of the masses, play a pivotal role in shaping policies and addressing public concerns. Yet, the specter of NPM...
